From the Traditional Chinese Medical (TCM) point of view, all internal organs are interconnected and an individual’s state of health is optimized when all organs, fundamental substances and emotions are in balance.  When a disruption in one organ occurs, there are specific organs that are more likely to be subsequently affected, generating secondary patterns of imbalance. The scope of this presentation is to take a closer look at one triad of organs that is commonly thrown out of balance, resulting in disorder and disease in our veterinary patients:  the Liver, the Spleen, and the Kidney. The goal is to achieve greater understanding of the interdependency of these three organs so that we become more proficient at TCM pattern diagnosis, acupuncture point selection, and treatment for patients that present with multiple or concurrent disruptions in this triad.
