Susan G. Wynn, DVM, DACVN is a 1987 graduate of the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed an internship with Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington DC in 1988, a post-doctoral fellowship in viral immunology with Emory University’s School of Medicine from 1993-1996, a nutrition residency with University of Tennessee from 2007-2010, and is board certified in veterinary clinical nutrition.  Dr Wynn is certified in acupuncture (IVAS 1997),  Chinese Herbal Medicine (Chi Institute 2001), and accepted as a peer-reviewed professional member of the American Herbalists Guild (2002).  She is a former president of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association and the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture, founder of the Veterinary Botanical Medical Association and has served on the boards of directors for the American Academy of Veterinary Nutrition and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association. Wynn also founded Pets Are Loving Support (PALS), an Atlanta-based support organization for pet owners living with chronic illnesses, and she headed the charitable arm of the GVMA, rebranding it as VetHeart while leading a new development campaign. She has consulted with a variety of pet food and supplement companies, and currently serves as a consultant for the Veterinary Information Network.

As a teacher and internationally respected speaker in nutrition and holistic veterinary medicine, Dr. Wynn taught the ground-breaking herbal medicine elective to veterinary students at the University of Georgia and has been a visiting lecturer for 7 veterinary colleges.  Wynn has authored or co-authored peer-reviewed scientific papers as well as 4 professional textbooks including Veterinary Herbal Medicine (2007), Manual of Natural Veterinary Medicine: Science and Tradition (2003), Emerging Therapies: Herbal and Natural Medicine for Small Animals, and the seminal Complementary and Alternative Veterinary Medicine: Principles and Practice (1998).  She is an adjunct faculty member with Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Wynn was in clinical practice for 31 years, most recently with BluePearl Veterinary Partners.  She is now the Senior Director of Scientific Affairs with Instinct Pet Food.
