Presented by Steve Marsden DVM ND MSOM Lac. Dipl.CH GradDipVCHM GradDipVA CVA AHG

The veterinary Chinese medicine master returns with two new CIVT webinars for you to enjoy over the holiday season - register a colleague as a practical Christmas gift!

Thursday November 30th (5pm PST - California time):

Chinese Medicine for Treatment and Prevention of Cushing’s Disease

A common phenomenon in modern veterinary practice is the dog that has symptoms of Cushing’s disease, yet only tests positive for the condition years down the road. Prior to diagnosis, they are known as Atypical Cushing’s (AC) cases, and afterwards are often labeled as pituitary dependent (PDH). The reality, however, is that PDH and AC cases are likely not different at all and are, in fact, the same condition – a condition that is not originating from the pituitary gland

This lecture will explore the research support for this claim, and explore the link of both AC and PDH to diet. Chinese herbal approaches that are commonly effective for the condition will be reviewed, along with tips for their integration with drug therapy.  Participants will no longer have to rely on drugs that impair adrenal gland function to address these patients, or wait until animals test positive to treat them, and will come to understand both PDH and AC as curable conditions.

$48 for non-Members; $38 for CIVT full veterinary members

Thursday December 7th (5pm PST - California time)

Strategies for Managing Pancreatitis

Given how common pancreatitis is in small animal medicine, the lack of trial data for anything other than care of critical patients is surprising. No definitive drug therapies exist, and no published studies support the widespread use of low fat kibble and canned diets as preventives.

Despite this void in understanding, pure research into the mechanisms behind the pathology has progressed, and these findings provide an excellent evidence base for the herbal and dietary therapies that seem most effective in the condition. In this webinar, these clinical approaches will be reviewed, along with exactly when and how they should be used.
