Medical Cannabis & Veterinary Medicine

Interested in medical cannabis? Confused about the regulatory status? Are your clients asking about it? How do you respond?

This 4 week course is designed to provide you with the information and confidence to respond to clients questions where legally permitted, and to provide you with insights into the medical uses including preparations and appropriate dosing and veterinary indications.

The naturally occurring chemical constituents produced by cannabis exert a profound physiologic effect on both humans and animals.  By accessing the endocannabinoid system within the central and peripheral nervous system as well as via other mechanisms throughout the body, cannabis has multiple actions including acting as an anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-neoplastic, and anticonvulsant, all the while promoting homeostatic balance. The keys to successfully using cannabis as medicine in veterinary patients lies in understanding the physiology of the endocannabinoid system and how cannabis interacts with it.The legal landscape pertaining to cannabis can be complex and challenging so this is discussed too.
