Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine | IVAS

CIVT1002 IVAS CIVT Certification in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine

This internationally recognised Certification course is offered in partnership with IVASSteve Marsden Veterinarian Chinese herbal medicine (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society). It consists of 30 units in 8 modules totalling 500 hours, successful completion of which provides the qualification Certification in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine (CVCHM).

But more importantly than the certification, this course offers you the opportunity to really explore Chinese  medicine from all sides-traditional and scientific perspectives; you will apply your knowledge to cases from the start so that when you complete the course you will be both competent and confident!

You can enrol module by module – select one or two modules to complete at your own pace. Click through below for more information!

The course was developed by the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies and the main teacher is Dr Steve Marsden, recognised as one of the world's leading experts in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine. Contributions by other veterinary leaders in TCM are included to give a broad basis to the course.

Learning materials include study guides, reading material, lecture notes, herb samples, DVDs as well as other interactive teaching methods online. Text books will need to be purchased in addition to the course fees. The course covers traditional Chinese formulas and teaches the use of concentrated granules – we also include the recipes. The course is conducted at your own pace so you can complete the course in as little or as much time as you like (maximum 2 years). This allows you to study in a way that fits with work and family commitments. Support and communication between you and your personal tutor is available via email and online forums. Scheduled online lectures are not compulsory but are recorded so you can catch up later.

There are no examinations, however, there are assessments for each module and a final assessment process including submission of 2 case studies and a log book of cases. The course is designed to graduate you with confidence and competence to practice VCHM.

This course is designed for beginners and takes you through to advanced levels. We also have students who have completed TCVM courses elsewhere and are already practicing Chinese herbal medicine. Feedback from these students tell us that this course takes their previous training to another level expanding their options and contemporising their practice. If you have already undertaken studies in TCVM and would like to know how this course is different, contact us. You may be able to receive recognition of prior learning and accelerate through the program.
