CIVT1004 Getting Started Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine II

Getting Started Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine II (VCHM) is the study of Chinese medicines and Veterinary Chinese Medicine skin pain arthritis incontinencetheir therapeutic application in veterinary practice. This course offers veterinarians an opportunity to expand their pharmacy and options, as well as providing a new way of looking at old problems like autoimmune disease, cancer, epilepsy and so on. The aim of this course is to provide veterinarians with a high quality and introductory education in the fundamentals of VCHM therapeutics with information that can be used immediately in practice.

While this course is suited to any veterinarian with a strong interest in veterinary herbal medicine, or those who simply want other effective options for their patients, prior training  in Chinese medicine or certification in veterinary acupuncture will be very helpful to participants. Getting Started Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine I or prior herbal medicine training is a prerequisite.

This course provides basic protocols for common veterinary conditions and how to prescribe according to the Chinese medical characteristics of the patient. It builds on Getting Started with Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine CIVT1003 . Easy reference charts are provided to assist with clinical assessments. You will cover the most useful formulas for a list of common conditions seen in practice. You will be able to integrate conventional and TCM treatments safely and effectively and address and avoid potential side effects. It is typical after this course for veterinarians to experience success in the many of cases they treat with herbs. Select conditions of the gastrointestinal, urological, musculoskeletal, neurological, skin and painful conditions are discussed.
