Bovine Herbal Webinars

Dr Cynthia Lankenau presents Bovine Herbal Medicine

Gastro-intestinal Herbal Medicines including Homeopathic Medicines for Ruminants

Ruminants are the ultimate herbivore and predictably respond very well to botanical medicines.  Botanical medicines can treat many otherwise very difficult conditions; BVD, Winter Dysentery, Calf Scours; Rumen atony, Intestinal Lymphoma, displaced abomasum, abomasal ulcers to name a few.  This talk will focus on common western herbs: like how simple Cinnamon could save the life of a comatose calf; Chinese formulas, how Xiao Yao San actually cured a Right Torsed Abomasum without surgery, and including homeopathic medicine.  Although the talk will focus on ruminants; this herbal information will be applicable to ALL species!

Herbal Support for Healthy Reproduction; with special attention to the Ruminant

In today’s world, the reproductive strength of our animals is on the decline.  This is a multi-factorial problem which includes environmental toxins, chemical toxins, and dietary stresses.  For the infertile animal, this most common conventional treatment is to be culled.  Herbal treatments for infertility issues including anestrus, delayed ovulation, retained CL’s, follicular cysts, chronic vaginitis, metritis in females will be explored and poor semen quality in males; including western herbs including the use of homeopathic botanical medicines, and Chinese Formulas.  The information presented will be applicable to all species.

Western Herbs in the Treatment of Respiratory Disease

Respiratory diseases in food producing animals are not only a health concern for the individual animal but also it is one reason for excessive antibiotic residues entering the food chain; leading to antibiotic resistance.  Many of these diseases are primarily viral with secondary Mycoplasma infections which are not responsive to conventional drug therapy.  Herbal therapy is the answer for these dilemmas.

This talk will focus on western herbs useful in treating common respiratory diseases in the calf and cow.  Although the talk will focus on the bovine, references will be made to small animals and the equine.
